Popliteal aneurysm is a swelling of the popliteal artery, which is one of the major arteries of the thigh, running behind the knee. Popliteal aneurysms are a problem because they are prone to rupturing and bleeding, or developing a clot, which then blocks blood flow to the lower leg.
