Vascular access
Vascular access is a catheter or other small device that IV's can be attached to or needles can be inserted into, in order to give medications to a patient and/or take blood samples from him. Simple vascular access can be placed by a doctor at the bedside, but deeper or complex access is usually done under anesthesia, by a vascular surgeon.
