SARS-cov-2 PCR
The US Centers for Disease Control developed a laboratory test for testing patient specimens for “severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2,” also known as SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The test kit is called the CDC 2019 Novel Coronavirus Real-Time Reverse Transcriptase PCR Diagnostic Panel. This test is intended for use with upper and lower respiratory specimens collected from persons who meet CDC criteria for COVID-19 testing. Several research centers and private companies have developed similar tests to help diagnose COVID-19 infections.
