Insect repellents are considered safe to use after 2 months of age. The CDC has established that products containing DEET, picaridin, or citronella are generally safe, however, products containing oil of lemon eucalyptus should not be used on children younger than 3 years old. Avoid applying near the mouth or on the hands.
